Four Really Good Reasons To Get Off Your Ass And Tefl

If you"re reading this, there must be a little bit of you that thinks it"s the right time to do something a bit more interesting with your life. We know how tricky it can be to take the plunge, so we"ve come up with these four very good reasons to get off your ass and get yourself a TEFL job abroad.

No-one ever said on their deathbed"

I wish I"d seen less, made less friends, lived slower, slept more, smiled less and spent more time clockwatching in a concrete office block! Well, teach English overseas and you won"t have too. You"ll meet new people everyday, have the kind of adventures that make life worth living, get a view of the world that backpackers can only dream of and build up enough happy memories to last you a lifetime! Don"t just take our word for it. Check out Chalkboard"s groups for stories from i-to-i TEFL graduates living and working overseas.

Beat the recession

According to the British Chancellor of the Exchequer (we"re paraphrasing here), the UK is broke. There"s not even 20p to be found behind our collective sofa. And that isn"t just limited to the Britain. Pretty much every economy on the planet is shot to bits. The only places that are bucking the trend are the still growing economies of Asia "" especially China and South Korea. And the more they grow, the greater the demand for trained TEFL teachers and the more opportunities (and reasons) there are for you to find a well-paid TEFL job abroad.

Nothing beats the excitement

Imagine it for a second: the plane doors open after your long haul flight. You shuffle down the aisle, say thanks to the cabin crew and head down the steps to be greeted by the sunlight of a new dawn over a city you"ve always dreamed of visiting. (Take your pick: Bangkok. Beijing. Rio de Janeiro. Tokyo. Madrid.) You walk down to baggage claim. Pick up your bags. And walk out to the arrivals hall to see your strangely misspelt name on a handwritten sign and the smiling face of your new boss. It"s now that you realize: the city you"ve dreamt of visiting since you were a kid is going to be home for the next 12 months!

It doesn"t have to be tricky

We"re not gonna do the hard sell, but if teaching overseas and living a life less ordinary appeals to you, i-to-i can help you make it happen. The next steps are pretty simple. You"ll either need to take a TEFL course and then look for a job independently. Or we can take the hassle out of the whole process and give you full TEFL training and help you find a TEFL job or a place on a Teaching Internship. Or if you"d prefer to talk, click here and we"ll give you a call to discuss your options.

So are you ready to go? Where are you planning on heading?
