Staying Hydrated on the Soccer Field

There is more physical effort expended in soccer games than in almost any other sport, but not all players are aware of the need to stay hydrated. Many soccer players are at risk for dehydration. No matter where the game is played, soccer players inevitably lose a lot of water as they play the game. All players, especially young or new players, should be given every opportunity to stay hydrated. Every soccer practice and game should be done in a place where players have access to water. Another good idea is for coaches to occasional teach players about dehydration. A little education goes a long way in preventing this completely preventable health risk.

Developing a Personal Soccer Training Program

By developing a training program for yourself that allows you to build up skills you are weak on and polish areas where you are proficient, you can become a valuable soccer player. You will need to devise your plan based on how much time you can practice each day or each week. Make your goals high but realistic. The best thing you can do with your plan is work it as consistently as possible. Next, think about your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to physical fitness and soccer abilities. Question yourself as to whether you need to spend the most time developing your agility, your speed, your accuracy, or your strength. Once you have done this, devise a plan that has you focus on each of these areas for a certain period of time. If you need to develop strength, start with a few exercises on speed and accuracy, and then focus your time on strength-building practices. If you need some help devising your plan, check with parents, coaches, or even friends.

Repetition Encourages Perfection

Repetition during practice is crucial in soccer, as it is in many sports. During soccer practice you will most likely repeat a drill 10 to 20 times before moving on to the next drill. Drills are also repeated every practice, every season. Many of these drills are fundamental, including passing a ball from one player to another, dribbling, and shooting. Though this may be frustrating, players should know that repetition leads to perfection. It is also important for coaches to increase the performance expectations of the particular drill. If a player does it wrong, a player must repeat it until he or she can do it right. The end goal of repetitive drills is for a player to become so good at a certain skill that he or she can perform it flawlessly and reflexively.

Goal Shooting Tools and Strategies

Improving your ability to score goals has a lot to do with improving your accuracy in shooting. There are several products available that can help you do this. For example, you can purchase some soccer net targets which you can attach to a goal net. They allow you to aim for a particular spot as you shoot at the net. The targets can be moved easily to different areas of the net, allowing you to work with several different shots and angles. When your target is set up, practice hitting it from several different directions. You can also work on heading the ball into the net with these targets. More advanced targets also record the speed of your ball, which lets you work on kicking strength along with accuracy. If you are planning to spend some time practicing on your own, you can maximize your practice time by buying a rebounding net and attaching your targets to that.
