Foreclosed Homes: An Opportunity For Home Ownership

By:

The recent increase in foreclosed homes has been negative news to the American public. However, the amount of foreclosed homes now available provides an opportunity for more people to become homeowners.

People who are not currently homeowners have more choices for affordable homes as possibilities for a home purchase. In times past foreclosed homes may not have been in areas of a city or in a community that would work as a home for an individual or family. Current increases in foreclosed homes has made the selection of a new home possible in areas that people would want to live to enjoy nearby schools, be close to work, and have other local amenities.

Current renters do not have to sell a home in the current low value market in order to purchase a new home. In addition, current homeowners who can sell their homes at a comfortable price can also take advantage of the affordable deals now available to upgrade their home or move to another area.

The increase in the amount of foreclosed homes not only provides an increased number of foreclosed home available an lower prices to chose from as a new home, but has affected the prices of non-foreclosed homes for sale. People looking for a new home can chose from foreclosed homes and other homes on the for sale market in almost any area that would be of interest for an individual or family. Homes in some areas may be 34% lower than the original market value of the home.

Becoming a new homeowner or purchasing another home is a real possibility to those who have a stable income, a positive credit rating, and have saved some money for a down payment. There are also first time homebuyer programs available that assist new homebuyers with lower down payment requirements.

Purchasing an affordable home has become a reality for more people. Foreclosed homes and the current real estate market have produced more homes in more areas that can make good homes for individuals and families to own rather than rent.
