Ford Used Cars- The Popular Escape

By:

Ford Used Cars like the Escape have been a popular Compact SUV ever since it hit the market back in 2001. The Ford Motor Company watched closely and saw how successful Toyota and Honda were doing in this part of the automobile industry. Fords good name in having the best trucks in the world, helped it gain popularity very fast with consumers and a few years later took over as the best selling Compact SUV in North America. Today its still the best selling vehicle in its market place, so I decided I would research models from 2001 to mid-2000s and see why the Escape is so popular.

Ford Escape used cars:

The interior of the Ford Escape from 2001 to 2006 is your basic look that Ford had with all its vehicles, its horrible. When you think back why Ford got itself into trouble in the mid 2000s and sales were down, I really believe it was due to poor interior and exterior design. That all changed though when they brought in a new CEO and made serious changes to Fords design team. But getting back to the interior, if you have ever been in any Ford vehicle you will recognize the same steering wheel, engine instruments, seats, buttons and center console that every other Ford has and its the same in the Escape.

Ford used cars like the Escape have different engine sizes from the years 2001 to 2005. From 2001 to 2004 you could choose either a 2.0-litre, four cylinder engine or a V6, 3.0-litre engine. Then in 2005 Ford gave the four-cylinder more added power, making it a 2.3-litre engine. They both come in all-wheel and front- wheel drive and have a five speed automatic transmission.

I found two fuel statistics for the fuel economy for the Ford Escape. Models from 2001 to 2005 had different fuel ratings depending on the engine size. The four cylinder engine had a 10-litre, per 100km for city driving and 7.7-litre, per 100km for highway driving. The V6 engine had a fuel rating of, 13.4-litre, per 100km, for city driving and 9.2-litre, per 100km for highway driving.

Lets take a look at the pros and cons of buying a used Ford Escape:

1-The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did a frontal test crash on the Escape and gave it a four star rating.
2-Several website forums I have gone to that discuss things on the Escape; have no serious mechanical problems to talk about.
3-The Escape is a much cheaper used vehicle to buy than the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.

Overall its a dependable used vehicle and its much cheaper and is good as its competitors.
