For The Young And Old Alike An Animal Friends Exhibition

By:

There is a program held in conjunction with one museum's animal friends exhibition and this is where six local artists will demonstrate their individual approaches to animal painting.

When the artists are able to create an animal theme painting in the museum galleries they then have to tell the visitors about how the styles and techniques they used were able to help them capture the image and spirit of the animals they painted. In terms of people from different cultures and backgrounds, they have special meanings for animals as mentioned by a museum's executive director.

For many the buffalo is a spiritual symbol or the dove as a sign of peace. A good omen can be associated with a red tailed hawk while dogs signify cherished friends. All over the world, animals continue to be the favorites because since the beginning of time from petroglyphs to cave murals to oil paintings to jewelry they have been the subjects of artistic endeavor.

An avid explorer of ideas, styles, and techniques is what this female artist considers herself to be. When it comes to her methods, these have been developed through a long career of teaching, consulting, in workshop presentations, and publications. Not only is she listed in the west's who's who but is also a founding member of a local society of watercolorists.

Originally from southern California was another female artist and she took up art and watercolor before moving to her hometown in 1983. People and animal portraits are some of the themes she works with together with landscapes and floral studies.

It is the director who mentioned how her style results from her ability to push the watercolor medium into works of unusual size without sacrificing the brilliance of transparent watercolor and her aggressive use of pigment.

There is one artist who studied at a famous college and at the art center of college of design in Los Angeles. He has exhibited nationally including the national watercolor exhibition in environment but back in Chicago his work was as a graphic designer. Each one of the artists will be creating presentations and publications in local and regional venues as well as in Springfield, Illinois.

The fourth artist graduated with high honors from New York?s school of art, following a period of study at the University of California at Los Angeles.

She received an award for the best of show at Washington school of art's 12th annual competition. There was a reviewer who described her work as full of psychological poignancy as parts of a famous director's film thereby able to give a precious glimpse of human drama.

For the fifth artist, her painting degree was earned from Kansas university school of fine arts. She gives viewers a feeling of the atmosphere not to mention the mood of the subject as she paints in her own interpretive style of realism.

Not only has she had a number of one person shows but has also participated in the Kansas landscape which is a traveling exhibition shown at the Smithsonian institution in Washington, DC and in juried exhibitions as well.

For the sixth artist, she studied Chinese brush painting with a noted Chinese painter for eight years and this allowed her to culminate her study of art and refinement of painting skills. When it comes to this style of painting, lifted or erased during creation, she adapted it to the northern New Mexican environment.

As mentioned by the director of the museum, they are honored to welcome these distinguished artists from the society of watercolorists to the museum and their commitment to artists and designers working showing up was reiterated as well.

When it comes to the current animal friends exhibition, it has been specially selected for the enjoyment of the young and old. Surely visitors will enjoy this workshop as the artists create portraits of their own special animal friends. Established in 1992 was the society of watercolorists and its mission is to encourage the local and national production and appreciation of professional quality watercolors.
