For Rap Artists Who Promote And Buy Beats Online

By:

I wrote this article in order to help serious rappers everywhere who promote themselves and buy beats online so they can understand today's music scene and so they don't get caught into the crazy wrong ideas being spread around by the media and by people. Do not think that you can't make it right now because let me tell you: if you think the industry is falling and it's a bad time to start then you're about to have your mind blown by the end of this article. You need to understand that your rap music may very well bring you a full time income if you do it right.

The major industry is experiencing a serious decline in sales, that's true... But honestly it's not nearly as bad as you think because while some are falling off, the independent industry is blooming more so than you could possibly wrap your head around! I can say, without a doubt in my mind, that this is by far the best time in HISTORY to get into the music scene and it's at a very healthy point in it's existence.

I know you probably think that the digital age has ruined music forever because that's what everybody in the media is talking about these days. A great state of chaos where illegal downloading has completely ruined the game and made it impossible for people to make money with their tracks, right? Wrong. ONLY 20% of music sales are seen as a loss in the industry because of illegal downloading and cyber pirating. That means 80% of music lovers STILL buy music, even with all the free resources available to them. So why are people trippin out? I'll explain it as best as I can.

Sure the major labels are seeing way less sales but do you really believe it's because of downloading? Let's continue exploring the facts. Though the major industry is falling off, the independent industry is EXPLODING more than you can even imagine... It's hard for me to even wrap my head around. If you don't believe me, Billboard magazine announced that in 2009 about 50% of album and single sales were made by, you guessed it, INDEPENDENTS! That's a huge number and believe me when I say it's never been that high before.

So what exactly happened? The internet happened, ya'll. With the invention of the world wide web, there have been many resources made available to independents. First of all you can promote yourself on websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter for free. People are making it famous off MySpace all the time now and it's crazy because all that promotion is completely and totally free.

Not only that but distribution has now become readily available and, you guessed it, a whole lot more affordable. Using a company called Tunecore, artists are now able to distribute themselves to all the major mp3 retailers for a yearly cost that wouldn't even pay for a high end dinner. It's this kind of advancement in technology that has truly revolutionized the music industry.

However if you want to get started as a hip hop artist in today's industry then you have to start with the basics. Before you can promote yourself, distribute yourself and otherwise make music that makes money you first have to have rights to the beats you use. Many rappers make the false mistake of using mainstream beats... This is bad because you simply can't sell your work. You need professional production that record labels would pay for but you need it at an affordable price, affordable is the new word for today's music scene.
