Wood sand is a preliminary of wood crafting arts. If you know, how to do good wood sanding, you can surely make finely finished furnitures. Well, one thing should be clear that there is no shortcut of wood sanding. It simply requires your skill hands and a lot of patience. Here are some ways, that may guide you for quality wood sanding.

Normally, when you enter the hardware store, you find a diversified range of wood sand papers. They are different not only quality wise but also budget wise. Many people suggest wood sanding using silicon carbide. This is considered the best quality sandpaper. However, few people also opt for glass paper but that is strictly forbidden in the case of wood sanding. Glass paper is taken as a low quality sand paper which does not give required finishing to the wooden art piece or furniture. Nonetheless, glass paper is much cheaper than silicon carbide sand wood papers but the effect the later leaves on the wooden artifacts are much better than the sanding done by glass papers.

Silicon Carbide papers are black colored. This is considered one of the hardest variety of sand wood papers, as they are hard enough to sand metals too. With silicon carbide papers you can also go for wet sanding to give oil finish to the wooden craft.

Garnet paper and Aluminum oxide are also considered as good for sanding wood. Garnet paper is made of small pieces of garnet. It is an inexpensive version of sand papers. It is supposed to be of better quality than glass papers but Garnet paper does not go well on hardwood. Aluminum oxide paper can be taken as a good substitute for Silicon carbide papers, as both are good in wet and dry sanding.

Tips to use a silicon carbide paper :- If you want to go for a better version of wood sanding and also want to keep it under budget. Follow the tips.
* Don't waste an entire sheet of silicon carbide paper for single time wood sanding. You can quarter it and can work easily as well as can save money.

* The best way for wood sanding is to take the sandpaper, wrap it around a wooden block or a solid backing to go for better sanding

* If wood sanding is your regular task, go for a contoured block or wooden dowel.
