Fly A Boeing 737 Aircraftin A Shopping Centre

By:

The last thing youd expect to see inside a shopping centre with boutiques and supermarkets is a high-tech flight simulator similar to the ones real pilots use to train in, but thats just what has appeared in one West London commercial centre.

Amongst the hustle and bustle of shoppers loaded with bags, there is one corner of the Westfield Centre that now plays host to a flight simulator machine that blows the gaming console versions out of the water and, despite the setting, the cockpit succeeds in bringing the reality of flying to life.

The simulator is a Boeing 737 jet the sort of modern airliner used by airlines around the world, but rather than sitting in the cabin and paying a small fortune for a luke-warm paper cup of instant coffee, passengers become pilots, even if it is just for pretend.

The cockpit set up is an exact replica of a 737 with all the overhead instrument panels, the pedals, the stick, altimeter and so on. Instead of looking out of the cockpit windows to the real world, would-be pilots see whats going on through state of the art screens.

Any flight path in the world can be created, along with a range of weather conditions; so would-be pilots can choose to fly in to Hong Kong airport at night, head over the French Alps to land in a snowy Geneva, or even fly over their own house.

One element that is definitely real is the tuition. Fully qualified pilots will be in the co-pilot seat ready to teach you how to fly the simulator and help you bring the airliner in to land safely and smoothly.

Simulated flying experiences from Into The Blue are available to buy online for the Westfield centre in London. Activities manager at Intotheblue.co.uk Darren Dray commented: These simulator experiences have become really popular, as it allows you to take control of an airliner just like the ones we always fly on when going on holiday and, despite being a simulator, it is totally realistic and has the advantage of not being affected by the weather.

Of course, anyone wanting to buy a full motion simulator like the ones used by airlines will have to spend between five and 30 million, so these simulator flight experiences offer excellent value for money, starting at 75 per person for a 20 minute flight.
