This is their prerogative and the beauty of flexible benefits means that they can do this if it suits them best.

Although allowing each employee to select the option or mix that is right for them may seem like a lot of work for employers, it is a relatively straightforward process. The firm is also aided at every step of the way, which should make the process much easier to control and manage. No firm should ever feel as though they are at risk of being out of pocket in this situation because if the cost of the benefit rises, it is easy to alter the agreement and have the employee pay for more of the benefit than previously. This would help the firm in their long term budgetary planning while also hopefully still providing a financial incentive for the employee.

With the advent of the internet and computer programmes and databases, managing flexible benefits has never been simpler and every firm should be looking into the system as a way of providing additional benefits to their employees without losing out themselves.
