In the health and fitness community, a large amount of people are looking for one thing: to have flat and sexy or 6 pack abs. You can find a lot of theories about how to accomplish this. A lot of what we see and read about says that repetitions of certain abdominal exercises will do the trick. Just do a bunch of sit-ups, leg raises, crunches and other ab exercises and all the belly fat you have will somehow magically disappear. Although these exercises do strengthen your stomach muscles they do very little to reduce stomach fat. Generally speaking doing exercise alone will not decrease the amount of fat in your body. If your belly has layers of fat, no amount of crunches or sit-ups will create a flat stomach. You should be able to squeeze off about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch of skin. If you are like I was you would have to go up around the collar bone to be able to squeeze any skin at all.

In most cases you will need to change your diet. Eating three large meals a day is one area that you can quickly correct. Eating 5 or 6 smaller meals a day will help burn more fat and calories and boost your metabolism. Also reducing the amount of calories you take in is very important. Resist the urge to snack around on junk food all day long, and do not eat shortly before going to bed. Anything you eat just before bedtime will turn to fat. Drink lots of water to flush your system and to help reduce hunger in between meals.

The type of exercises you need to do would be cardio, aerobic or whatever terminology you want to use to describe getting your body moving and working off that fat. Some of the best exercises for this are running, jogging, walking, swimming and bicycling. Increasing your heart rate is one the most beneficial things you can do for you overall physical and mental heath.
