Headaches are a very common complaint, given the stressful world in which we live. It is not normal, however, to have a throbbing headache every day or even every week. This article will teach you some things that have been proven to stop and even cure stress headaches. Depending on the overall cause of your headaches, some of these solutions might work better than others.

Tension headaches can be brought on by eye strain which is a common problem due to people spending most of their days staring at computer screens. When you add watching movies, and staring at the screen of your smart phone to this mix, you will be straining your eyes more than you think you are. It's true that you can't just quit your job but if that is the primary source of your eyestrain, you might still be able to prevent your headaches. Take a few seconds, for example, to look away from your screen. This helps you prevent yourself from spending long interrupted blocks of time just staring at the screen. A protective shield that reduces glare and (sometimes) radiation is another solution to help protect yourself. A good and fast cure for your headache is to drink some cold beverages like iced coffee or black tea. Caffeine can also help you reduce the size of the blood vessels that are making the tension headache happen as does the coolness of the beverage. You do need to be careful with this technique, however because drinking too much caffeine can also cause headaches to happen in the long run when you start to go through withdrawal symptoms because you haven't gotten your fix. So if you are having bad tension headaches, cold caffeinated beverages might help but you also need to think about lowering your stress levels and the other factors that might be causing your headaches.

A great way to sooth a stress headache is to give yourself a foot bath with some hot water. You can use your regular bath for this or a bucket or one of the foot bath spas that are made specifically for this which are usually easy to find in the pharmacy or on the internet. This is a good thing to do at night before you go to sleep. If you purchase your own foot spa, you can set it to your comfort level but remember a good temperature is hot but not scalding. Keep your feet in the foot bath from ten to fifteen minutes. This isn't just good for your feet; it relaxes the rest of you too and might even cure your stress headaches as well. There are lots of ways to treat your stress headaches and you can start with one of the methods we've talked about here. Most of all, the best way to prevent these kinds of headaches from happening is to learn how best to relax even in scenarios that normally make you tense. It might be difficult, but you can teach yourself how not to let your life stress you out too much. There are lots of benefits that come with lowering your stress and having fewer headaches is just one of them.
