Most of the problems of Entourage database can be repaired by using rebuild option. You may need to rebuild the database in situations like: you have problems while opening, storing or starting Entourage application, unable to deleted items, prompt again and again for free space etc.
Follow the below mentioned steps to use the database utility in different versions of Entourage.
Rebuild Entourage database:
1.Entourage 2001 and Entourage X: Hold down the Option key and then again start the application. You will be displayed a dialogue box with two different options to choose, "Typical Rebuild" or the "Advanced Rebuild." First try Typical rebuild, it deals with less severe problems and is best for reducing the database size and reclaiming disk space. If a problem continues after running a Typical Rebuild, try an Advanced Rebuild. It will clear server caches.
2.Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008: Hold down the Option key and then again start the application. Select the Entourage Database Utility to start rebuilding process.
Note: Before starting the rebuild process, make sure that you have enough free space because Entourage creates a second database file as part of its database rebuilding process. This will also ensures the success of rebuilding entourage database.
Corrupt Entourage Database Utility
Are you facing problem while importing your database into Entourage 2004/2008?
There is no guarantees that rebuild utility succeed to repair the database, If Entourage 2004 or 2008 will import a corrupted Entourage X identity.
