Five Ways To Tell If A Tub Refinish Project Is Necessary

By:

The bathtub is the focal point of the bathroom. Typically, it's the first thing one will notice when they walk into the room. It's always nice to set a good first impression for anyone walking into any room of the house. As far as the bathroom is concerned, since the tub is the focal point, it's important to know when a tub refinish project is necessary. Continue reading to learn five ways to tell if it is time to redo the tub.

The first and most obvious way to tell if the tub is due for an overhaul is if it has been cleaned and scrubbed but it still seems to be dirty. It must be cleansed deep with effective tub cleaners several times before one can decide that it's simply no use. Once one has put in a good deal of effort in cleaning and then realizes that their work is in vain, it's time to refinish the tub.

Something that tends to happen to bathtubs over time, especially if they were not finished well in the first place, is that the paint and finish gets cracked. This typically doesn't happen for many years if at all. When a tub ends up having cracked paint or finish on it though, it is definitely time for some work. Cracks are uncomfortable to lie on and can lead to larger paint chips coming off. It's best to take care of the redo as soon as cracks are noticed before the problem gets any worse.

Something all bathtubs should have in common is a shiny finish. Over time, they can become dull and will then not shine any longer. When a bathtub does not shine any longer, it's best to refinish it. Bathtub reglazing is one way to go about it. This can add shine and make the tub glimmer once again.

Sometimes, bathrooms get redecorated with entirely new colors and themes. This often leaves tubs out of style or in a color that does not match. When this happens, it's a good idea to refinish the tub in a completely different finish color so that it will match the rest of the bathroom decorating style.

Some may say it's much less hassle to go out and get a new bathtub. When someone wants a change it is the time to make a change. So, when a homeowner wants to make a change for whatever reason and cannot afford a new bathtub, that is also a time to get the current tub refinished as well.
