Divorce is a painful and extremely stressful time for everyone, especially when there are children involved. It is extremely important to be careful how you react in front of your children so as not to upset them unnecessarily. You must let your kids what is going on explaining that they are loved by both parents regardless of what happens.

Things to avoid:

1. NEVER have a fight in front of the children with the other parent. This is very disturbing to your kids and my cause them to become fearful and anxious about the future. Don't speak in a bad way about the other other parent.

2. NEVER keep the children away from the other parent unless they are in danger. Let the children see the parent when they feel the need to. Let them know that they can call them anytime and you will be happy to drive them to see the other parent any time that they want.

3. Don't distance yourself from your children. You need to communicate with your them and be a responsible parent. It is a hard time for everyone and it is important to keep up your strength both physically and emotionally for your kids sake.

4. Do not try and buy the childs affection with gifts and money. You need to spend quality time with them and let them know that they are the most important people in your life. You need to keep all of your promises to them and do not abandon them for any reason. If you say that you are going to see them or fetch them at a certain time, make sure you are there.

5. If you feel that your child is not coping well and may need to talk to a professional to help them deal with their feelings, go ahead and make the necessary arrangements. It is crucial that children discuss and express their feelings in a positive way.

It is your job to make sure they feel safe and secure regardless of how upset or depressed you may be feeling. Make sure that they know that you have their best interests at heart and that both parents love them and will be there for them always.
