First Steps To Cure Panic Attacks

By:

The difficulty in stopping or relieving the symptoms of panic attacks can make them seem completely debilitating. The symptoms can be dealt with, though, and the severity of attacks reduced using some tested methods. To begin with, give some thought to what the causes could possibly be. The root may be a recent trauma or a suppressed experience from childhood. It could be that your every day routine involves levels of stress that are well beyond what you can deal with. It is important to consider the root cause and try to deal with these issues, otherwise the fear of panic can grow and other conditions can develop, such as OCD or agoraphobia.

The first step to stop a panic attack is to recognize the triggers that bring on the attacks. A certain person or animal or a type of confrontation or situation could be the trigger. The chances of having a panic attack can be greatly reduced after the trigger has been identified.

The panic attack symptoms and feelings will be easily recognizable for someone who has previously experienced a number of attacks. The person can talk themselves through the attack and use their familiarity with what is happening to reduce the fear of it, which is one step closer to curing the attacks. The past experience can be used to your benefit, as long as you focus on the fact that you lived through the attack before and you will again. Taking deep slow breaths is another method to encourage calmness.

The effects felt during a panic attack can be reduced using the methods described above. After this, steps can be looked at to cure the attacks. You should not expect a magical sudden cure at this point. This mindset will serve to build up pressure and anxiety, which just increases the chance of a panic attack being brought on. Furthermore, start to think about consumption of drugs like nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine, and how these may play a part, along with the root cause.
