First communion is a special day in the life of a Catholic child and there are lots of preparations needed to be ready. The correct outfit is very important, dress, veil, suit, tie along with the accessories to match, so your child feels as perfect on the outside as they do on the inside this special day. There are some things that will last, long after they have outgrown their perfect outfits, and those can be found in first communion kits that contain items that will last a life time.

First communion kits have all the child will need to continue his life in the Catholic Church after his or her first communion. There are many to chose from online with subtle style differences, but usually the kit for boys has black accessories and the girl's has white. Most kits contain a chalice pin, silver, gold plate or pewter, brown scapular and a rosary with a pouch. The rosary is black wooden beads for most boy's kits and white or pearl beads for girl's, but there are other options. Girl's kits may contain a white satin purse that will hold everything.

Some first communion kits have missals with the instructions for prayer and mass through out the year. Some have mass books and prayer books as well as the New Testament. This would cost more but you could get top quality items and truly give them something they can use all their lives. You could special order a chalice medal to be included on the rosary or as a pin or pendant.

First communion is the beginning for the child entering the adult world of faith. There are also fun first communion kits that relate to the child's interests and help make the importance of the occasion part of the child's own world. For example, there is a soft mass celebratory kit in bright colors, and even if they don't know how to celebrate mass, they will learn about all the sacraments involved through this kit. There are also kits for making first communion banners for their rooms. A child will enjoy creating his or her personalized banner and there are no two alike. He may hang it in his room for a while, and then put it away, but he will never throw it away, he will show it to his children.
