Fire Training - Necessity Of Fire Investigation

By:

Fire Safety: Fire investigation is some times called as origin and cause investigation. This refers to the analysis related to the fire accident. Once the fire is extinguished by fire fighters, an investigation is commenced to determine the reason for the fire or explosion. This type of investigation requires a knowledge of fire and the systematic approach towards it.

It is common in the forensic department that the first investigation is done to identify that the crime is committed at the place or not. It is difficult to determine the occurrence of arson because in most cases the fire destroys its origin. Mostly the fire is caused only by faulty appliances due to power surge or short circuit. The car fire are caused by the faulty fuel line, or spontaneous combustion which is possible at the places where organic wastes are stored.

Basically a fire investigator look for the fire and rebuilt the sequence of fire that leads to fire. The most challenging nature of the fire investigators job is the multidisciplinary basis. The fire can be caused by many sources. So the fire investigators not only have to study the science and behavior of fire, but also have to understand different areas of study including construction, electricity, human behavior and mechanical devices. Sometimes the fire investigators have to work with the forensic people in cases of investigating regarding the fire due to electric appliances.

There are certain terminologies like spoliation. It means destruction of the evidence through intention or ignorance. The mere act of extinguishing fire may leads to destruction of the potential evidence of the arson, which is called as incendiary fire. Fire fighters are educated for the usage of fire hose and pike pole may destruct the fire evidence. But the fire investigation can be compromised when a fire fighter turns off the knob of the gads stove with an intention of safeguarding the house after a house was knocked down. In the further investigation the daughter was accused by her father by saying that she left the stove on as she left the house. But right now there is no way to determine the accurate position of the knob in the stove. Though there was no criminal offence in this incident ,but a distrust was created among the family members.
