Fire Damage - Pretty Smelling Candles Can End Up Causing A Big Stink In Your Home

By:

Ask yourself one question, can candles do damage to your home? Yes, it can be very easy for a candle to set your home on fire. There are many ways it can happen like knocking it over or it can cause something to get hot and catch on fire if something flammable gets too close to it. Almost everything in your house can catch on fire, in seconds in fact. A candle fire can spread through your house in minutes just like any other fire when the flames touch very flammable things and it can burn it to the ground.

Everything you have could be destroyed just because of one candle. Candles make your house look and smell pretty, but they can be dangerous too if they are not watched or put somewhere where it can not get knocked over. There are all shapes and sizes of candles, some in jars and other are not. What ever kind you have, they all need to be handled with care and kept an eye on when it is lit. If you have kids, you have to put them up away from them so they can not try to touch or play with it. If you have pets in your home, make sure they are not near the candles when they are lit.

When a lit candle turns over, it might not go out as long as the candle wax does not put out the burning wick. This little flame can start to burn what it is on or anything flammable it might be touching. If you do not catch the fire in time and get it put out, before you know it you will have to be calling the fire department. When the flames become bigger and it is spreading so fast, the fire fighters will have to put it out because the fire is out of control. Then you will be wondering whether that nice smelling candle was worth all of the fire damage it caused.

There are some oil candles available that are fairly small and when all of the oil has burned off, they extinguish themselves. Even these types of candles must be monitored closely. Only burn candles when you are in the room with them. If you must go off and do something in another room, go ahead and extinguish the candle before you do. You can always relight it when you come back. It is better to do this than return and the room is on fire. When the home has a fire, you can bet there will be nothing that smells good then. Smoke smell can be difficult to get out of the home even if the fire is small.
