Fire Damage - It Is Good To Have And Teach A Healthy Fear Of Fire

By:

In our homes we need to do whatever we can to try to stay ahead of a fire. We need to put devices in our homes that will let out some kind of warning sound. We have smoke detectors, fire alarms, and fire extinguishers, but only two of them put off a sound. But if the system or the batteries are not working right, they will not let off a sound where you will not or might not be able to leave during a fire should one happen. If you put these devices in your home, they need to be checked every so often to make sure they are in top working order. If they are not, then you need to have them replaced.

There are many things that you can do to help you prevent a home fire. Teach your children about fire safety and make them understand that a fire is not a pretty sight. Make them understand that a fire will cause them to become hurt a little or a lot. Show them what could happen if a fire should touch them by lighting a fire and letting them get close enough to feel the heat that will come off this fire. Show them how fast a fire can travel by setting something on fire and then putting something else close. If you would like, you could take them on a field trip that will include a trip to the local fire station and let them talk to the firemen that stay there.

Teach them the dangers of matches and gasoline. Never let your children start any fire unless there is an adult with them at all times. Once the fire is lit, do not let them hang around or play around fire. If a fire gets out of control, call your fire station and back away. Never try to stop a raging fire as you may not know what you are doing. You could use something that will cause the fire to really become harder to stop. As all fires are not the same, neither are the ways to put these fires out. If there is even a slight breeze blowing outside, do not start a fire because it can get away from you very easily.

Any time you are working with a fire of any kind, always be extra careful not to let it get out of control. This means inside and outside your home as. Either one can become unpredictable quickly. Keep your fire extinguisher close by anytime you are burning debris outdoors. The most logical place for an extinguisher in the home is near your stove or fireplace.
