When you have smokers in your home, you could end up with fire from these cigarettes falling down into the cushions of your overstuffed chairs or couches. When these cigarettes fall into these places, they can sit in there for hours and smolder. When this happens, you will have a pretty good fire going by the time you notice the flames. Sometimes this could happen at night after everyone goes to sleep. This is a really good reason to have some smoke detectors or fire alarms in your home and having them working properly.

Most of our furniture that is made today are made of fire resistant materials, but these can still start a fire especially when a chair or couch shows signs of becoming worn. The longer you have this furniture and the rougher you treat it, this fire resistant material will wear and your cigarettes and their ashes can more easily start to burn small holes in this material. Once a small burn hole shows up on this material, you can have a fire from this piece of furniture. The best way to keep from having this happen is to have your smokers start smoking outside.

Over time, this action will help in the reductions of burns to your furniture and the smoke damage to your walls. As this smoke is something that we really do not notice until we go to wash down the walls or if we decide to repaint. Making your smokers go outside will prevent smoke residue so you do not have to do this so often. If you want your new color of paint to be exactly as it should be, you will need to make sure that you wash down your walls first and let them dry. Then you can paint and your color should come out the right shade.

If you do not wash this old paint, you might end up with a color that is darker because this paint will mix with the smoke that is stuck on your walls. All you need to use on these walls is good soapy water and a lot of rags because when this rag has a lot of the old smoke in its fibers, you might not be able to remove all of them from the rag so change them often. You will want to make sure that your walls are really dry so that this paint will not turn out looking runny or having streaks. After you have done all of this work and removed the smokers, your house will look almost and smell better. Doing this will at least be a start.
