With the job market in such a crazy state, it can be hard to find the type of job you want. With so many people applying for the same position, it can be an up hill battle once you step foot into the job market. If you are fresh out of college, finding the right position will be important to your career. You should carefully plan your long and short term goals, to give you a better chance of moving up the career ladder. Knowing in advance what direction you want your career to go and positioning yourself early can help you the long run.

When looking for your first job, know if it is experience or salary you are targeting. If your goal is to gain experience choose a smaller company that has room for you to grow when you feel ready to move on. Working for a small company, will keep you close to managers and executives that have the knowledge and experience you want. If it is salary you are after, over seas companies usually offer great pay with excellent benefits. Do not forget to research the job requirements and make sure they are in-line with you goals. If you want to be an accountant, make sure you choose an finance position and not a position in marketing. Also Remember to find a position that compliments your personality, if you like interacting with people becoming an corporate accountant is not an ideal job for you. Again, your goals is a key factor to the type of position you place yourself in.
You should also remember, this is the beginning of your career and you will hold many positions over the years to come. You should adjust your long term goals, as you gain experience and discover new opportunities. Whatever you dream of becoming is very possible with the right plan and determination.
