Finding Your Reliable, Yet Affordable, Car

By:

So you've decided that it's time to buy a new car? Maybe you're a family in Utah whose little van is on its last leg, or you're a student attending the U of U that needs a small vehicle to get to and from your classes. Either way, a new car is absolutely necessary at this point. What you need is an affordable car that is reliable, durable, and will last longer than the warranty that comes with it. Yes, we've heard the stories.

The car runs great until two days past the warranty and then -- bam! The engine dies, the fuel pump breaks, the wheels fall off (not really). Whatever the case, the car ends up in the shop and there's no warranty to cover it so the owner ends up with the bill. Starting with a reliable car in the beginning will save you a headache in the end.

When beginning your search for a new, reliable car, the best place to start looking is online. You don't have to be looking for a car. What you're looking for are reviews on the makes and models that you are considering. Fellow consumers will give the most honest feedback so it's best to start with them.

Of course, you don't have to trust only in the feedback. If a car company has a good reputation, you can generally assume that you will get a good car. Dodge has been around for over a hundred years, and has been considered reliable throughout its history. Scion is a fairly new brand, but it is the brainchild of Toyota which is a reliable car company.

But remember that reputations are typically old. Hyundai, for example, has a reputation for making "disposable" cars. It was once true that Hyundai made poorly built, cheap cars. But they have evolved into a reliable manufacturer backed up with one of the best warranties in the industry.

Furthermore, technology and machinery has evolved to the point where if you want to buy a poorly built car, you really have to go looking for one.

Once you decide on a particular manufacturer and model, the best place to look for it will be at the dealerships dedicated to them. You can find just about every kind of dealership in most cities. Knowing that these brands are trusted for their reliability can give you peace of mind when choosing one for your new car.
