Finding Mot Testing Centres That Really Work

By:

Its not easy to find a good MOT station. A lot of MOT testing centres seem, on the face of it, to offer good value for money; transparent service; and proper compliance with all the necessary rules and regulations: but how many actually fit the bill? The easiest way to work out whether an MOT centre is really all its cracked up to be is to talk with the mechanics who work there the less evasive or generalised the answers, the more likely the place is to live up to its promises.

It is, of course, extremely important to find an MOT station that does deliver correctly. The service sold by MOT testing centres is more than just a legal requirement: done properly, an MOT represents annual peace of mind for motorists in a country where car use is increasingly central to maintaining a way of life. As such, the MOT itself needs to be trustworthy and clearly explained.

Any MOT provider who will not let its customers watch the Mot in progress should be discounted immediately. As a general rule, MOTs can be divided into two categories those that can be viewed and those that cant. An MOT station that will not let a customer sit in on the MOT that is, stay at the MOT testing centres while the investigative work is being carried out on their vehicle can be fairly accurately described as untrustworthy. In basic terms, companies that carry out MOTs but wont let customers watch them, have something to hide. And hidden surprises, where car maintenance is concerned, are more than just annoying they can be downright expensive.

MOT testing centres with something to hide are generally trying to take advantage of the average amount of auto knowledge possessed by the man (or woman) in the street. He or she will have at most a basic idea of car care how to check and change oil and fluid levels, and how and when to inflate tyres. At the MOT station, the average person is severely hobbled. Neither he nor she has any real idea what constitutes acceptable conditions for things like brushes and suspension bolts. In which case, he or she really needs to at least have the option of seeing these things tested and to ask questions of the mechanic doing the work. MOT testing centres that do not encourage this kind of inquisition do so for a reason: so they can add little extra costs to MOT work by claiming that something inexplicable needs replacing, and charging accordingly. When a person cant see the MOT station in action, neither he nor she has the option to question what is being done not, usually, to claim it as unnecessary: but so he or she understands more about the work being put in.

Its a simple rule but, like most simple rules, its also a very good one. When MOT testing centres deny access to the MOT itself, somethings up or, at least, somethings a little off. Go cost effective, go transparent and drive away with a genuinely peaceful mind.
