Finding A Child's Bike With The Necessary Safety Features

By:

The safety of your children is the most important thing that any parent worries about. For this reason so many parents are concerned about physical activities such as cycling or any other outdoor sport. We've got busy roads, busy parks and polluted areas with rubbish strewn around. What would happen if a piece of glass punctured one of the tyres? For this reason it's essential that we look for certain safety features when purchasing a childs bike.

Puncture Proof Tyres - Our children are fragile, especially when they are younger. When you are cycling, whether it is in the park or on the road, there will always be fragments of glass or rocks that can puncture your tyres. Make sure that when you are researching a little kid bike to buy, you go for the ones that have puncture proof tyres. How is this possible? The tyres are filled with foam to make them durable, light and as safe as possible. Without them, your child can hurt themselves because they will lose control of the bicycle.

Footrests - Most child's bike or bikes without pedals don't have footrests. The next time you're on a bicycle try letting your legs hang while cycling. It is extremely uncomfortable and can cause a lot of pain in the upper legs. It also gives you a greater chance of catching your foot on something on the ground. A good childs bike manufacturer will make sure that there are footrests strategically placed for your child. Once your child is gliding they can simply put their feet on the footrests and go.

Adjustable Handlebars and Seat - If you buy a kid's bike that doesn't have adjustable handlebars and seat it can cause a very uncomfortable situation for the child. Some children grow faster or slower then others. A small bike that is suitable for a particular two year old might not be the right fit for another two year old. Often kids that try to ride a bike that doesn't suit them can fall and hurt themselves by constantly trying to shift into place.
