Find Virtual Assistant - Quick Tips To Get Their Attention

By:

One of the things I say to all of my staff, especially when they work with me in the office you're not going to get rich from the salary that I pay you. You'll get rich from the gold nuggets that I drop in your lap. That is one fact that I find virtual assistant to work for me.

I'll be very open, I'll explain how my SEO company business works, I won't hold anything back. They can ask me, I help all of my staff outside of hours. If you've got any tasks you want done or little projects, I help each one off them start their own little offline businesses and that's the type of person I'm attracting in.

One thing to keep in mind though, and I'm finding this now, when you do that, just be careful that the bait you're using for the fish that you catch, I have been hiring very entrepreneurial people. Just recently we've had quite a few staff move on because they've moved on to bigger and better things. That's something I'm learning in the bait that I wrote when I write job ads. Maybe that's something I'll look to change but also that's the way I like to do things. I like to have people develop and grow and then preferably, over time, we grow together. So that's how you write the perfect job ad.

Employees have told me that they actually really enjoyed the process of selection when they hire virtual assistant, the actual interview process that happens. All the tasks I give they have enjoyed doing and so I guess that is why they're still with me as well. They felt like each step tested their skills, it made them realize they wanted the job, what they wanted to do for me and where they could take it. I was receptive to it, so it was a win-win.

You need to think about where it is that you want to advertise. Once you have identified that you're looking for a particular role to be filled and a task to be done, then where do we go? This is the order in which I'd approach it. Firstly I'd look at my virtual bench. Virtual bench is that group of people who I've identified along the past three months, six months, twelve months who have done little one off jobs for me, they're already in my network, people have referred and recommended people. They're sitting on my virtual bench waiting for an opportunity.

I don't just hire and find virtual assistant to help me in doing SEO services. They're sitting on my bench and I don't just hire them because they're an A player. I wait first for the job role to emerge and then I make sure that I plug them into it.

A good area to ask is your team members as well. Ask you're A players, so ask other staff members. Often people swim in the same circle as other A players. If you've got a B player, they're probably going to recommend other B players. But if you've got lots of A players, chances are if they recommend someone, they're swimming in that same school of fish. What you can do is tap into that resource.

Something that I want to have a look at later on down the track is offering a little bit of a bounty as well. If someone recommends someone and then they come on board, then we give the person who recommended that person a little bit of a kick back to say thanks for keeping your eyes open. What does that do? That gets your staff members when they're out and about thinking in the back of their mind, is this person right for the job. It's like they're constantly scanning for that.

I mainly use a website called JobStreet for my Philippines staff. At the moment I'm really tending towards the Philippines. A lot of people are, there are a lot of internet marketers talking about it. The Philippines is great, they've got an excellent work ethic, they are very honest, the geo arbitrage opportunity is fantastic. I can still pay them very well and they can live a very good life and they love working for me because I pay higher than the normal internet marketer. I'm not going to try to get them for $2 or $3 an hour, I'm happy to pay a little bit more because I want them to appreciate working with me.

JobStreet is a really good one, it's like SEEK for those in Australia. We've got SEEK or Monster. They're websites where you can advertise for people who might work in your office. It's the SEEK of the Philippines. A lot of people don't talk about it. There is bestjobs.ph as well but they made some changes a little while ago and can make it a little bit more awkward for people outside of the Philippines hiring staff.

JobStreet is a really good place to go to find virtual assistant. It is price prohibitive for some people. It's not just one of those job ads you place it and it's $5. It's $120, but for me to hire an A player, I don't mind paying $US120 or $US140.
