Find A Small Piece Of Paradise In Lismore On The Far North Coast Of Nsw In Australia

By:

If you really want to get to know the Far North coast of NSW, then make Lismore your base for exploration. Centrally located and having a a number of transportation options, Lismore is close to the beaches, National Parks and interesting historic towns of the north coast.

One of Lismore's greatest attractions is the city of Lismore itself. It is a laid back, "true blue" Australian town whose local population welcomes visitors with open arms. This, combined with its location within the heart of the north coast, makes it an ideal place to call your home whenever you are visiting the region. It's less than an hour's drive from Byron Bay and about the same distance from some of the great National Parks of northern NSW, like Mt. Warning, Nightcap National Park and the Border Ranges National Park.

If "getting there is half the fun," then a day trip from Lismore to any of the North Coast attractions is a good deal of fun and an excellent way to get to know the North Coast, too. For example, if you set out from Lismore for a day at the beach at Byron Bay or Lennox Head, you will pass through the charming town of Bangalow. Bangalow is a mixture of beautiful historical architecture and stylish and sophisticated tastes.

Head north out of Lismore in the direction of Nightcap National Park or Border Ranges National Park and stop off in Nimbin. Like Bangalow, Nimbin is a small town whose main street is lined with classic Australian timber structures. That's roughly all Nimbin has in common with Bangalow, though. Nimbin was a forgotten town until the initial Rainbow Festival was held there in the hippie era. The event was a huge success and the hippies stayed. Today, a visit to Nimbin is a trip back in time to the Flower Power era. The daily shuttle bus tours from Lismore to Nimbin are among the most popular in the region.

If you happen to be in the Lismore region on the 2nd Sunday of the month, then plan to spend some time in Channon Market. Established in 1976 as a way for the locals to sell their produce and crafts, it blossomed into one of the most popular country markets within the country. It is now held in Coronation Park in the Channon after having outgrown its initial location long ago. Be ready for an excellent day out, exploring the 250 stalls that sell everything from handmade and exotic crafts to gourmet food from the four corners of the world. Throughout the day, everyone is invited to join in the fun as local musicians get together to play music and entertain the crowds.

After a long day out when you come back to your Lismore accommodation, you will have much more to look forward to. Downtown Lismore is an excellent spot for dining, window shopping and simply wandering around getting to know the locals. You will find numerous restaurants, galleries, gift shops and bookshops, all within easy walking distance of each other. Make your next holiday to the North Coast a trip to Lismore and see all that the Far North New South Wales has to offer.
