Filling A Butane Lighter: How To Tell When It's Full

Butane lighters are extremely popular. They are sleek and stylish and allow you to always have a lighter on hand without the constant need to replace it, like you do with disposable models. If you have a top quality butane device, however, you will find that you need to refill it whenever the fluid starts to run low. While this is easy to see in a clear model, refillable lighters are almost never clear. So how do you know when your device is completely full during a refill?

The answer to this is simple, and involves simply knowing the proper way to refill the device. You will want to bleed out any excess air before you get started, and then you will want to turn it upside down. Place the stem of the butane can over the fill valve on your device and ensure that a tight seal has formed between the two. This should always be done in a well ventilated area to ensure that there is no risk of fire, and you should absolutely never attempt this while smoking or while near an open flame or other source of ignition.

When trying to learn how to tell if your lighter is full, it is important that you follow all of the right steps in refilling it. This means that you should always press the button down fully to extinguish any excess air in the lighter. Once you have done this, you simply need to attach the can of butane to the lighter. Do this by pressing the valve on the butane can over the fill valve of your lighter while the lighter is turned upside down. Make certain that the seal between the two valves is tight.

When the seal is tight and you are ready to refill your lighter, press down on the tip of the butane canister. This will cause the gas to start entering the lighter, which you will be able to hear. Keep the top pressed down for about five or six seconds, and you will start to hear butane escaping from the seal between the lighter and the can. This is your indication that the lighter is completely full. You will find that the lighter and can alike are both cold to the touch, and this is supposed to happen.

The process of refilling lighters is a very simple one, and it is one that you will grow more comfortable with once you get used to it. By following instructions, there is nothing dangerous about the process. It is simple, easy, and much easier than paying to replace your device every time the fluid runs out.
