Fill Your Family Pool In Summer By Utilising Recycled Rainwater

By:

Rainwater harvesting has obvious benefits for those who use water extensively for leisure activities at home. For example, filling small and medium sized swimming pools can easily be achieved by re-cycling rainwater, without incurring significant costs by drawing the water from the mains. You will also find that recycled rainwater won't need as many chemicals added to your pool as when filling with mains water. This is because rainwater is virtually neutral in terms of acidity and hardness, so treating it with chlorine is sometimes even completely unnecessary. You will also not need to buy chemicals to adjust the ph level of your pool water. If you spend a lot of time in your pool, this absence of chemicals will be immediately noticeable. You may find that the water is kinder on your skin, and especially on children's' skin. You will also be able to eliminate the smell of chlorine, which can be undesirable.

Over the course of a summer, an unfiltered pool will need refilling approximately three to four times, or possibly more. When you take into account the amount of water needed to fill even a small garden pool, this can add up to a significant amount of water. Using recycled rainwater for this purpose saves mains water for use on other things, or simply saving money by reducing consumption. Also, in summer for example, you can use recycled rainwater for keeping your lawn green and for watering prized flowerbeds. Sprinkler systems that normally use a lot of mains water can be fed by your recycled rainwater reserve.

As well as using your underground storage tanks to provide water to fill your summer pool, you can also use it for other activities, such as washing the family car. The UK expends a great deal of mains water every year solely for car washing activities, and most of that water ends up back in the public sewer system when it drains away. This is a waste of resources, so by re-using rainwater to keep your car clean, you are helping the community to conserve water as well as saving money yourself. You will also find that rainwater, usually being of a better quality than mains water and free from chemicals, is better for your car's bodywork, and won't streak as bad, meaning car washing will take less time and effort. You will find that rainwater has many uses and all can lead to saving money.
