We've all heard that you should never go shopping when you're hungry, but how many people really take the time to prepare themselves a snack before they go to the store. Eat enough to make sure that your stomach is satisfied before you go shopping. Even the most delicious treat isn't all that tempting when your stomach is feeling content.

Many people confuse being thirsty for being hungry and it's especially easy to do when you know that there are aisles and aisles of tasty snacks available. One great way to overcome your cravings is to take a water bottle with you when you go shopping. If you start to feel a hunger pang coming on, have a few sips of water. You will probably find that your body is more pleased to be hydrated than to be gorged with junk food.

Check for the basics like milk, eggs, bread, and anything else that you and your family eat on a regular basis. After that, think ahead about any new recipes that you were thinking of trying and might need ingredients for.

Once you know what you need make your list and you're ready to head off the store. The hardest part of this method is having the discipline to avoid impulse buys once you reach the store, but with discipline you can do it.

You don't have to feel like a weakling with no self-control whenever you pass a hot food display. Prepare ahead of time and you can leave the grocery store feeling stronger than you did when you arrived.
