Fiber Optics Technologies

Theres a widespread belief that cellular phones receive and transmit signals via satellite through invisible waves, but contrary to the common understanding that many have, most of the current data transmission is done by using fiber optics. While there still are providers of telecommunication service that may operate using older infrastructures, they are undoubtedly unable to face the competition with other providers that have adapted fiber optics technologies.

Although cable and phone services could still rely on an outdated technology, it is certain that internet providers arent able to cope with the massive amount of data thats being transferred every second. The current fiber optics technology has now become a vital need to gain quick access to the internet to carry out online transactions or to hold live conversations over the net. Just as there are evident needs for cooperations to opt for fiber optics, the household family has also grown dependent on the advantages that the technology has provided.

Time

The time of data transfer that could be provided by the fiber optics has been affirmed over the years that the technology has been implemented. A simple way of illustrating the advantage of the technology over a satellite transmission could be done by the distances that the data transmitted covers, without getting into the technicalities of the transmission. In satellite transmissions, the data has to be transmitted to receivers that are within line-of-sight as many of the waves arent able to bend.

Hence, a longer distance has to be covered as the data could only be transmitted with multiple straight transmissions. When using fiber optics, the thin silicon fibers are made in way that its flexible enough to bend, so following the contour of the earth or having it run under deep sea beds, the actual distance that optic fibers cover is less than that of satellite transmission, hence the time of transmission could be further reduced.

Data Loss

Data loss on the way of transmission has been inevitable, but in the case of fiber optics, there has been an ideal way of reproducing the signals. Just imagine a game of passing messages from an individual to another, the message of the first person isnt always the same as the last. This problem has now been curbed by substituting the complex data with simple code, just like blinking and not blinking your eye. When the code is read along the way, it could be easily reproduced to avoid any loss of data.
