Festivals Of Trang

By:

Trang came to fame as an important sea port for foreign trade and with that came the shift to rubber as its main commodity. With that rubber became the main commodity of the southern Thai region. And even though rice is the stable diet in the region it is rubber that brought prominence, wealth and visitors to Trang. With its rich history and it being the driving force behind the countrys main export good, these provinces also became interesting explorations for globe-trotters.

With various attractions depicting its culture and cuisine to speak for its rich origins, one of the most vibrant aspects is its various festivals, especially those involving the fascinating and delectable flavours of the Thai cuisine. Some of the famous festivals are the Trang cake Festival, the Moo Yang Festival and the Vegetarian Festival.

The Cake festival encourages the age old cake making traditions of the locals. Each year in August the village bakers come up with their unique and original creations of local cakes and to add zest to it they are created in a variety of flavours.

Moo Yang, or roast pork, is a staple for the locals; it is part of their breakfast along with the traditional coffee and dim sum. The speciality here is the preparation of the Moo Yang, which obviously is no ordinary roast. The tradition and the special recipe of the Moo Yang are celebrated each September where some of the best samples of the roast are on offer.

For those non-meat eaters the most interesting food festival would be the Vegetarian Festival. Spreading over nine nights the participants of this event would get involved in religious ceremonies and will abstain from consuming any type of meat. But the event boasts a wonderful array of vegetarian dishes for those keen on Thai food.

Visitors to the region are afforded a range of accommodation options and those searching for a good Trang Hotel, online lodging option providers feature a range to choose from. Krabi Luxury Resorts as well as budget accommodation in and around the city are popular picks. For complete indulgence in Thai traditions, cuisine and hospitality and for luxurious accommodation in a natural setting you may try the Anantara Saiko, Thailand.
