Female Hair Loss Under 30 - How It Happens

By:

Female hair loss under 30 is an issue that most ladies do not think about. Most of use consider the loss of hair a condition of aging. Losing hair is not unexpected for either men or women as they reached 60 or 70. Women are always talking about their hair thinning after menopause. Hence, the younger crowd, such as women under 30 were not used to the thought of losing hair at their age. Most of them do not realize there are other, more serious hair loss causes for women under 30. Here are just a few.

Androgenetic Alopecia

The word alopesia means excessive hair thinning and loss in medical terms. One of the main alopecia causes that physicians see is known as androgenetic alopesia. In this case, the cause for the loss is genetic. Because of the source of the condition, surgery would not be used unless the alopesia has become severe. It is more likely that a treatment such as Rogaine for women would be used.

Another phenonmenon is loose anagen hair loss. It is something a lot of women experience before 30. This is when hair shedding is experienced when you comb or brush your hair. Sometimes the loss is excessive and requires medical care to control.

Stress Plays A Role

Other types of female hair loss under 30 causes also include the condition that might be the result of stress, nutritional problems or hormonal difficulties. This condition is called Telogen elluvium. Again, a medical physician should be consulted to find the reason for the condition so it can be controlled.

Another of the causes for loss of hair in women under 30 could be scarring that is caused by head trauma, such an automobile accident. It can also be the result of serious burns on the head that have healed and formed scars with none of the healthy follicles of the rest of the head. This is known as Scarring alopecia.

Scarring Scalp

Scarring alopecia yet another factor for excessive shedding of hair before 30 that would probably lead to surgery. Either transplants or some other form of creative hair replacement would be used by the physician to cover the area. Obviously the simple use of donor hair would not be sufficient if the scar covered a large area.

Some of these conditions can result in patches of bare hair scalp. Surgery or transplants of the healthy donor hair might be necessary. Doctors who specialize in hair thinning and loss can become very creative in how they use transplants to give back to their lady clients the appearance of a full head of hair.

Traction Alopecia

Lastly, while not exactly a disease, one of the most recent cause of female hair loss under 30 is the burst in popularity of braids. Corn rows can cause the same problem. Because they break the hair and pull on the follicle, braids and corn rows eventually damage the follicle, which can prolong the effects. Traction alopecia, which is the type of hair loss in women causes under 30 discussed here. A physician may recommend not braiding or using corn rows and to apply a topical treatment such as Rogaine for women or a laser combs to stimulate the follicles.
