Female Doctors

There is a lady physician who has worked in a practice which was large and they had a lot of male doctors.She does not like it when they are patronizing just because she required more leave because of her children. It's no new thing she says because she has always felt the same feeling from them from right in the beginning.

Apologizing for that is not something she should be doing, she feels. She has no way of doing that now that she is with female pediatric group. Many women see this as the perfect way to get out of this situation. Work and family become more manageable with this kind of a medical practice.

The fact that there are more and more female physician groups that are coming up is but natural because many women are getting into this profession. There were three female pediatricians who had formed this group a few years ago. Most of them work part time because they all have children. Le Bonheur children's hospital in Memphis is where they have studied. And all became somewhat disenchanted with those large groups about the same time.

So they came together to create a workplace that, in part, would more readily accommodate their needs to attend their children's school plays or soccer games, schedule parent teacher meetings or drive carpools. They have a room full of toys and a VCR for those parents who have to take care of their sick children but cannot afford to miss work.

Women are able to give a lot of advice about baby food brands, schools and about being a working woman as well.This information is very helpful to other doctors. There are quite a few dads who take their kids to the doctor but still it mostly is a mom's job.

A female pediatrician in the business who is planning to join the group said that she finds talking to a mother better. The male doctors are not really bothered about the taste of the medicines they prescribe. The field of obstetrics and gynecology is a hotspot for women because females like to see female doctors.

Women like to go to female obstetricians and gynecologists mostly while others don't care said a survey. The group back then dint understand the significance of a female doctor. She moved into a certain medical group as the only OB GYN and later moved to another multispecialty HMO where a lot of other females joined her. At the time, she said she took a lot of flak from other physicians in the good ol' boy network for practicing in ways sensitive to her female patients.

Child birth doesn't have to result in shaving she believed. Women are slowly realizing that their health is better handled by a woman who has experience of how it feels first hand. It was 15 years ago that both she and her patients conceived together. Now both are going through menopause together.
