Tiredness is defined as the temporary loss of energy which results from doing too much physical and mental work. It is not a symptom that pinpoints a particular medical condition. Rather, it is a common symptom of many different health issues and diseases. It can also be caused by poor lifestyle and lack of quality sleep. It affects a person's energy level and concentration.

Fatigue, on the other hand, is loss of energy caused by repetitive or prolonged physical and mental strain. Just like tiredness, fatigue can also be caused by medical conditions of poor sleep. However, it is more prolonged and more constant. Fatigue can also level up to chronic fatigue syndrome which is simply constant fatigue that has no particular known cause and treatment.

Exhaustion and having no energy can both be associated with tiredness and fatigue. Being sleepy all the time can also be related to the two aforementioned conditions. At present, fatigue and tiredness are considered as normal responses of the body. When you do too much work, you body will of course feel tired. It will signal you to rest by making you feel tired. When you do not sleep well, your body will not be able to rest and renew the cells therefore it will also feel tired. It will signal you to sleep by making you sleepy and exhausted.

There are many symptoms that indicate fatigue. Aside from being sleepy and constant exhaustion, headaches and muscle pains are also involved. If you are always experiencing pains in your body, this can be an indication that your body is experiencing fatigue. Other people suffer for abdominal pains, as well as sore throats.

Fatigue can also be characterized by mood swings. People who feel tired all the time are often very sensitive to small things such as light or sound. They can also be sensitive to smell or to some things that they see. They are easily irritated and are often in a bad mood. If you are also experiencing mood swings and frequent irritations, those can be a sign that you are working your body too much.

A person who faces the problem of fatigue also faces the problem of sleep disorders. There are many cases that even if you feel tired you still cannot sleep immediately no matter how much you want to. This is because fatigue also affects the sleep cycles of the body. When you feel tired, you always want to sleep. As a result, you sleep for very short periods throughout the day. These very short naps are not good for the body because it confuses the biological clock. It will also cause the person to have difficult in sleeping when night comes. When this happens, the person will just feel more tired the next day.

Tiredness and fatigue work side by side in affecting one's daily routines. You should always pay attention to them not only because they affect your performance but also because they might be associated with more serious medical problems.
