Fat Loss Is What Matters - Learn To Burn The Fat

If you want to get results (at anything) you have to focus on the right things. If you want to get in better shape, to be fit and sexy, maybe even sport six pack abs, you're probably trying to lose weight. That could be the worst mistake you can make!

If you want to be sexy and fit, you don't want to concentrate on losing weight. Instead, you need to be thinking about healthy ways to lose fat. Getting that distinction right could make all the difference between getting fit and sexy or skinny and scary.

Losing Weight Isn't The Answer

This is a common mistake. Even doctors regularly blur the distinction between needing to lose weight and needing to reduce your body fat percentage. This mistake is so common that we should use an example to show the problem.

Imagine that you and your identical twin go to the doctor to talk about getting fitter. The doctor tells you and your twin that you need to lose 20 pounds each (you are identical after all). Your twin decides to concentrate on losing weight as fast as possible by starting one of the popular quick weight loss diets, and bets you $50 that she'll lose more weight than you.

You decide on a different approach (you are identical physically, but obviously much smarter). You change your diet and start eating healthier. You do not go on some crazy lose 100 pounds in 15 minutes fad diet like your sibling. But you do get yourself a workout program that's designed to burn the fat off your body while toning and strengthening your muscles. Your goal is fat loss and improved fitness instead of maximum weight loss.

Six months later, you and your twin go back to the doctor for a follow up visit. The doc praises your twin for losing the 20 pounds he prescribed. You, meanwhile haven't come close to dropping 20 pounds, so you hand sis the $50 bucks from your bet.

It looks like sis is kicking your butt. But we're not done yet.

The doc sits you two down and gives you his recommendations. He tells her sis she is doing great and only needs to lose another ten pounds. Then he tells you that you are in excellent shape and don't need to change a thing.

On the way home, you and your sister decide to enjoy the weather and take a walk past a construction site to the little outdoor cafe you both enjoy. You notice that its you the construction workers are whistling at, not your much lighter sister.

What's going on here?

Fat Loss Is What Really Matters

You and your twin focused on different things and so you got very different results. You don't look identical anymore. Your twin did exactly what the doctor said, and lost a lot of weight. She's been dieting her butt off (literally) for the last six months.

She's definitely lost a good bit of body fat. But she's also lost a good amount of muscle. Her body fat percentage (the ratio of fat to lean tissue in her body) hasn't changed that much.

And the results aren't pretty. She's gotten a lot skinnier, but she still looks kind of soft and maybe even a little flabby. You may also have noticed that she doesn't have as much energy as she used to, and seems to be getting sick a lot more too.

Then there's you. You've only lost a few pounds. But you've added a bit of muscle, and toned it up quite a bit. You've also lost a good bit of body fat. That translates into a big drop in your body fat percentage. Your not flabby. Your belly is firm. Your arms and butt too.

Plus you're full of energy and in a good mood. You notice that you keep having to stop and weight for your twin as you two walk to the cafe. You probably haven't had a cold recently either. You're strong and fit. You look better than you have in years.

Your twin lost all the weight the doctor prescribed, and you didn't, but he's happy with your results, not hers. That's because your weight, that single number on the scale, isn't what's most important when it comes to being fit and healthy.

Get This One Right If You Want Real Results

As our example clearly shows, concentrating on weight loss instead of fat loss is a big mistake. If you want to be fit and sexy instead of skinny and scary looking, concentrate on burning fat instead of losing weight. Soon you'll see and feel the results and no one (including you) will care what you weigh.
