It's important to eat breakfast when you are dieting. Studies have found that people who eat breakfast consume less calories throughout the day than people who skip breakfast. Skipping meals slows down your metabolism by 20 to 30 percent and can lead to overeating.

Prefer eating cereal for breakfast five days a week. Following this, you will consume more fiber and calcium, and less fat than those who eat other breakfast foods.

Avoid sweetened iced teas, even if theyre labelled natural. Most have water and high-fructose corn syrup as the first two ingredients and about 200 calories per serving.

Adopt the Been there, done that mentality when it comes to food. For example, you had a great meal. Youre full. When offered dessert, you think, Been there, done that, and take a pass.
