Fantasy Art Painting

The differnt ways ways of painting fantasy art work is either painting with diffrent media, not useually water colour but digital painting. Digital paintings tends to be the norm at the moment There is some beautiful works of art by some amazing fantasy artists. I use either a Cintiqu or every now and then a Intuos, to paint with and a sony Laptop i7 which is somewhat powerful at the moment but give it six months it will be out of date.

Getting an idea for your master piece some people will get an idea maybe you get a brief from your client. or if you are just starting out you may need to go out to get some insperation. So next its either you feel confident and sketch a thumb nail drawing. You may need to get reference material out its easy now just google the images to get reference material, instead of going throu loads of books. Maybe you could take some photos to get certain angles, positions, poses. Photoshop is one of the best software to use, which is good. Next what programs do you use? well Photoshop is the first thought, this is a cut down version for Photographers very good brushes and layers palets. But I like Painter which is very good has excellent brushes. Painter also has some water colour washes and oil brushes which is very good. But Photoshop is good for layers. Next there is 3D sci fi art which is good.3D is has a steep learning curve but anything is possible with 3D software. A quantity of of the best programs are exceedingly expensive I mean 3,000 upwards but they are astonishing 3ds Max is one that I use and also Maya which is good. There are some good student discounts some you can get free of charge if you are a student There are some great modeling 3d software then Mudbox, or Zbrush is good they are excellent for 3d modeling, still expensive but your looking at 400 to 500 ish. Landscape software then you need Vue.. Vue is fantastically good for some marvelous Landscapes. Panorama software can be less expensive. But if you do get 3ds Max or Maya then they will do all of this, but comes at a price. I find that one of the things with 3d software is that it does look very realistic but its nice to see brush strokes or else it just looks like a good picture not a picture with passion.
