You get to see patients that are in better shape than in other field. They are conscious most of time so they can talk to you. You can interview them for anything to help you with your diagnosis. Family practice jobs are easier than other specialties. You get to make a great income while enjoying your job too. You get a cleaner office and you wont see a lot of open wound and bad infections. You get to see patients that are not that far in with their diseases. Most patients that visit their family doctor have controllable diseases and you can send them to a specialist if its in a late stage. Family practice is common and there are many jobs out there for the family physician.


The family physician will be trained in areas that deal with the adult and children too. They will be trained in diseases along with psychiatric care. The family physician is there to care for the entire family. He will know most of the diseases that are associated with the entire family from grandma to babies. The family physicians will learn to treat patients of all ages. The residency training is very broad. The family physician will be trained in adult medicine, children medicine, womens health, maternity care, preventive medicine, and behavioral science. There is a special focus on primary care of families using consultant and community resources. The family physician can also go into subspecialties too. They can specialize in adolescent medicine, geriatric medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, sleep medicine, and sports medicine. The family physician will have to finish medical school and then go into three years of residency and one year of subspecialty.


The average annual income for family physician is $151,000-$205,000. The job outlook is good. There is a chance for the family physician to start his own business after years of experiences. He will need to have experiences before he open his own business. Family physicians can make more money if they have their own business. This is one of the incentives that makes medical school students go into family medicine. You have more freedom and flexibility as a business owner rather than working in a hospital for the rest of your life. When you start out, you dont need as much experiences as someone who is in the surgery field or in the ER field. It can be on the easier side for most doctors. Its within their scope of expertise. Its not as difficult as being a surgeon. The patients that do come in with illnesses are less severe than the ones that come to the ER room. The family physician job is less stressful than other medicine field.
