Poinsettia is regarded as one of the best Christmas flowers to have around. Its origin can be traced to 1825, they are wild plants grown in Mexico. It was introduced by Joel Robert Poinsett to United States. He was an ambassador to Mexico and a botanist. He planted some cutting of poinsettias to his plantation.

The poinsettias have range from $10 to $100. The variation is based on shape, size, decorative trim and quality. While choosing Christmas flowers, one should consider the piece with expanded and colored bract, strong stems, green foliage and which doesn't wither quickly. Poinsettia can be grown well if room temperature is maintained. Indirect sunlight and soil moisture should be moderate in order to foster healthy growth of the flower. Excessive temperature, water, and heat and soggy soil can cause damage to the flower.
