FAKE in Suriname

It's "booming business" for the "new Chinese" in Suriname. With the new Chinese I mean the Chinese people that came to Suriname just a few years ago, mostly to start a small business. Chinese people were always part of our multicultural country, but there are lots of new immigrants from China. Unfortunately ,ost of the shops they open are filled with fake products, openly sold. D & G, Prada, Louis Vutton, you can not think of it, or it is copied and sold. We were able to film in the Maagdenstraat a store that exclusively sells fake products. In the background, "Confessions" by Usher .Of course this music is from a bootleg CD . I am sure these folks has a lot to confess. There is a copyright association in Suriname named "SASUR" but they have no leg to stand on. Because although this association is authorized by the government, and recognized by the international copyright agency, and they are the only legitimate Suriname copyright organization, there is nothing they can do against the media bosses, who themselves have formed an association to save themselves. This is because they have broadcasted music illegally for years without paying a penny. The media bosses complain that they would have to close their companies if they should pay the fee SASUR demands. (Woes them !i) The government and some parliamentarians support this group, because "oh man the poor guys are doing the best they can". In that respect, Suriname is a Wild West "I am the last to want to protect the big manufacturing companies, but when a Surinamese makes an original product and put it on the market, and that product would be counterfeited and sold, we would get a taste of our own medicine. Surinamese governmental authority should take strict action against retailers who violate intellectual property or persons of any third party who just makes copies of that product to sell. But it simply does not happen! It's just theft. Furthermore, Suriname is member of the WIPO (World Property Organization) The brand products are just a tip of the iceberg, because everyone knows you can get the latest movies, which are often not even officially on video already available, at the corner store in Suriname. Dont get me started about the illegal copying and selling of music, because that is the most normal thing in Suriname.
