Failing Forward To Improve Your Life, Achieve Your Goals, And Build A Successful Business Easily

By:

I first heard the term 'failing forward' when I read a book about this by the great John C. Maxwell. This book continues to be on the bestseller's list years after it was written. The principles are sound, and the idea is one we can all use to improve our lives and our businesses. If you simply look at every experience you have, whether it is a positive or a negative one, as a learning experience you will be able to change your life for the better one day at a time.

Take a look at the way you react to failure. Do you dwell on it for months, or even years, after it happens? Or, do you examine what happened and learn from it? This can be events related to health, relationships, finance, or some other area of your life. It seems that we tend to react in a similar manner to any challenging situation that arises.

I think back to when I first decided to come online on a full time basis. Money was tight, and my cell phone was turned off for about a week. I remember feeling embarrassed about this to begin with, and then realized that no one else knew. When someone called it simply went straight to the voicemail, and I didn't even know I had been shut off for nonpayment until a friend saw me and asked me why I hadn't returned her calls. That taught me what my priorities were when it came to having to stretch my dollars, and I quickly saw that many of my expenditures were for items I didn't really have to have. I also learned that I am more than my bank account, and that I had to keep my integrity in all situations.

I believe that before you marry someone or form a business partnership it is best to see how they handle adversity. This seems to say so much about someone's character, even though most of us do not think about it in this way. By seeing how the other person handles a sticky situation you learn more about them than if nothing ever goes wrong.

We all must fail in order to move forward with our lives. Look for these times as an opportunity to build your character, evaluate your goals, and see which people in your life are best suited for what you want to accomplish. Make it a habit to 'fail forward' and you will be able to reach new heights in every area of your life.
