What is a Soffit?
Soffits cover the gap between your exterior walls and the edge of the roof--if you stand under the eaves and look up, you will see a soffit. Soffits are both aesthetically and functionally important. In addition to creating a smooth visual transition from wall to roof, soffits seal off the space under the eaves so that insects, raccoons, and other pests can't take up residence. The soffit's location, however, makes it particularly vulnerable to weather damage, and a rotted or misaligned soffit may allow pests to get in.
