Lake Logan Martin which is located in the state of Alabama on the river Coosa is approximately 30 miles to the east of the city of Birmingham in Alabama. The Coosa River reservoir, which is spread over 17,000 acres, was built in 1965 by the Alabama Power Company.

Subsequently Lake Logan Martin Alabama was given a name Lake of a Thousand Coves by locals. With a depth of only a few feet and with only five feet of water level difference, the lake is a favorite spot for skiing, diving, swimming and even holds credit as the nation's finest bass fishing destination.

The main flow of water into the lake is from Coosa River. Numerous small streams also flow into the Logan Martin Lake. The flow of water is from the north to the south along a normal, regular pattern.

The origin of the river Coosa is from the Appalachian Mountains and its waters finally discharge into Mobile Bay and Mexico Gulf. Thus Lake Logan Martin is a culmination of the river. As per geology, Lake Logan Martin is situated in the Northern Province of Alabama and is marked by the low ridges at the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains.

As per natural history it is home to various aquatic species, including both edible and non-edible fish. National and local tournaments for fishing are held there annually. Large mouthed bass with spots, bass with stripes, white colored bass, catfish and carp inhabit the lake in large numbers.

On the economy front, Lake Logan Martin acts as the source of providing millions of dollars annually to the communities surrounding the lake in the form of increased property values and the expenditures incurred from recreational visitors.

The entire area is in a growth stage, with several home communities like The Yacht Club opening in and around Pell City. The whole city is an artist's colony and a haven for antique collectors with its numerous shops and stores. Pell City has become a popular attraction for fishermen.
