Facebook Takes Down Pages:facebook Cracks Down On Copy Cats

By:

Facebook is taking down Facebook pages that are accused of infringing upon copyrights of other individuals. It is important to note that you do have a chance to prove your article is original. Apparently, Facebook does not verify the legitimacy of the claims before taking action, so you have to ensure your information is original on your own.

Facebook is only doing what most relevant sites should do and that is screen for violations of policies. Make sure your content is original and you will be okay with this crack down. You can surf the net for the same title and view comparable articles to make sure you are not duplicating another persons work.

Also the DMCA has a long history of cracking down on sites, but the law itself is not the main concern here with these recent Facebook page takedowns. Facebook's process for handling such complaints is to take down pages on the 1st notice of violation. Because the social network does not validate the identity of anyone submitting a DMCA takedown notice, and does not check to see if the report was sent from a legitimate email address, anyone can fill out a form with bogus information and get a Facebook page to disappear and sometimes getting it back up is a challenge.

Facebook took down a page today that was promoting a new intifada against Israel. The page had reached 340,000 members and was titled Third Palestinian". Make sure you are not inviolation of any policies and are not promoting illegal activities.Racist comments will get your page taken down immediately as it should. There is no place in social media for these tyopes of comments. Facebook is a place to meet and share thoughts and activities and to network. Make sure your pages promote social networking and you will be okay.

Scams are also poping up on Facebook, and the social networking site recently shut down two anti-scam pages. It you are promoting your business on Facebook then make sure it is legit. There is no place on the web or Facebook for these scams.
If is too good to be true then run away. Do not be taken for a scam and do not depend on Facebook to keep you from losing your time and money. They will do their best to take down these sites but it is a tough job for them.

The bottom line is Facebook is trying to crack down and scams and people who steal the work of others. Make sure you create your own information and you will not be a victim of the crack down. Do your homework and your page will be okay. If you get taken down and your site is legit you can get it back up by just following the review process.
