In a recent study conducted by Constant Contact and Chadwick Martin Bailey, it has been found that Facebook users spend a lot of their time on the social network, interacting with brands and other businesses. There were 1,491 consumers that age from 18 and older that responded to the survey throughout the United States.

This means that Facebook has become a popular platform of choice for consumers to interacting with their favorite brands online out performing Twitter and LinkedIn. Because of this popularity among users, a user is more likely to recommend a product or business to his/her friends after they become a fan of its page just by clicking the Like button.

Marketers have a solid opportunity to reach their consumers in order to build on that positive connection just by having an effective Facebook presence.

Furthermore, here are other relevant figures and conclusions found by the study:
· 56 percent of consumers said they are more likely to recommend a brand to a friend after becoming a fan on Facebook.
· 51 percent of consumers said they are more likely to buy a product since becoming a fan on Facebook.
· 52 percent of those who go online said that they spend at least one hour a week on Facebook.
· 76 percent of consumers said they have never Unliked a brand on Facebook).
· 77 percent of consumers said they interact with brands on Facebook primarily through reading posts and News Feeds.
· 78 percent of consumers who Like brands on Facebook said they Like fewer than ten brands.
· 58 percent of consumers said they Like a brand on Facebook because they are a customer.
· 45 percent of consumers said they spend most of their time on Facebook in the News Feed.
· 69 percent of consumers said they want to hear from some brands on Facebook more than others.

This data only reinforces the fact that Facebook is the most popular social network right now and that it is an ideal opportunity for businesses seeking to build brand awareness and interaction online. Whether you like it or not, it is certain that most of your potential customers can be found on Facebook.
