Obtain a few brushes of diverse sizes to begin. Thin brushes are used for lines and curvatures, medium brushes are used to manufacture the colour in surrounding areas, and a big brush or sponge will be used to cover a large area.

Thick layering should be avoided as it will crack up and wreck the painting, thus thin layers should be applied. If second coat is needed, then one must let the first one dry up so that if the second layer is removed the one remains intact. Outlines and intricacies can be added after the background color.

Cleanliness is essential in face painting. You must be conscious when learning how to paint face. Use the towel to pull glut water out of the brush. Visualize the finished face, or design, which you are going to paint before you start. Do not postpone it, as you go along. Set a basic face design in your mind, and you can add unique touches to this once you are done.

Envision the finished design on the face before starting up. Make the outline first in your mind and then on the face, after that you can add the minute details and the intricate lines of the design. Cosmetic paints are advised to be used for face painting as ordinary paint can adversely affect the skin and can cause irritation, itchiness and allergies, especially on a child's facial skin which is more sensitive.
