Extreme Fat Loss-it's Okay To Cheat!

Are you aboard the diet roller coaster ride like so many of us are? You make steady progress and feel in control of your eating and then bam! Your diet takes a deep dive. In a week or two, or perhaps even months, you start up again, only to take more dips as you deal with a stressful situation, a loss, financial headaches, etc. And unfortunately, each time you go off from your diet, the weight just seems to pack on that much faster.

I finally decided to abandon the diet roller coaster ride and have found something that works for me. I've wasted too many years losing 40 or 50 pounds only to gain 50 or 60 pounds back. In fact, I was easily gaining over ten pounds a year for the past few years.

The first step I took was to take a hard look at what causes me to derail from my diet. One of the things I instantly noticed was my diet was so restrictive that I didn't allow myself any special treats and certainly there was no room for error. I was eating three meals, one snack and lots of water each day. However, if I gave in to a sugar craving, then I just gave up. I'd tell myself that I would start again the following Sunday...maybe the following month...maybe after the holidays, and usually "maybe" just never amounted to much of anything.

I would go to social events, such as graduation parties or baby showers, and found myself resenting the food that those around me were eating. Usually one of two things would happen. I would either be in such a rotten mood for the rest of the day, or I would stop and buy junk food on my way home because I felt entitle to eat something I knew I would enjoy. Yet, after gorging down a few Little Debbies or drinking a large McDonald's cola, I felt even worse. Once again, I had blown it.

The second step I took was to brainstorm ideas to help me stay on track. Some of my ideas were silly ones such as hiring a bodyguard who would physically remove any junk food from my hands. I thought about studying healthy recipes and finding a few that my satisfy my cravings. But the idea that I decided to try was to cheat! I thought if I purposely had one day a week in which I would give myself permission to cheat, then I could easily make it through the rest of the week!

I've heard of the concept of "cheat days" numerous times and thought it sounded counterproductive. Yet, now that I'm utilizing cheat days, I've lost over 100 pounds and am continuing to lose! My first few cheat days were unbelievable! I ate pasta, chocolate and sweets like crazy. But then on a particular cheat day I realized that my only cheat that day was a small cola and one slice of garlic bread. Since that day, my cheats have been very reasonable!

If you're struggling with weight loss and you're tired of that diet roller coaster ride, then consider adding a cheat day to your plan.
