As much as we value your patronage at the Chicago courier service, and as much as we want to keep your delivery pain-free and surcharge-free, there are times when we do have to require a charge for a cancelled pick up. There are a number of reasons we do this:

We may have "farmed out" your delivery to a smaller courier, one who has a faster, more convenient (for you) schedule or simply a locale closer to where you want your package to arrive. This smaller courier is independently contracted out to us, and, unfortunately, when you cancel, they may wind up cancelling their entire ride, as that was their only pickup. We at Chicago courier service do not want our "farming" friend to lose money, so we take up his slack, and give you a surcharge, not the equivalent of a whole delivery, just enough to defray any incidental expenses our shipping friend has been put to.

Another reason may be that the Chicago courier has a tight schedule that day, and your cancellation throws us off enough that we have to re-schedule, re-route or "farm out" the remaining orders on a truckload.

And now to the painful business at hand: we usually do have to charge a fee for same day cancellations. You can avoid this fee by doing the following:

First, if it is at all possible, call the Chicago courier a day before. A week before is even more awesome. This will reduce greatly or more probably eliminate your fee altogether.

Second, if you have an account with us and are a regular customer, we will often give that consideration as well. Regular customers often get discounted or waived fees, because if they are constant in their use of our business, we want to keep them, and we don't want to penalize them for a slip up.

Now, if worst comes to worst and you are calling to cancel on the same day, while we are on our way to your place, you will be assessed a modest surcharge (after all, we used the gas, vehicle and driver to get out there). We make it reasonable, based upon your standing as a customer and the speed and timeliness of your cancellation.

Beyond that, we want to keep your as our customer, so we hope you understand and can appreciate the reasons for our surcharge policy. Thanks!
