Extending The Life Of Your Rechargeable Batteries: Renaissance Battery Charging

By:

To understand why proper charging is important to the life of your rechargeable battery, you must first understand what happens during the process. While you are using your battery, as in during its discharge phase, tiny crystals form on its plates. When you put the battery into the charger, the little crystals are dissolved. The less time that you allow the battery to spend in the charger, the less time is given to the dissolution process so the crystals remain on the battery plate, building up a little bit more each time. Eventually, the crystals will have built up enough to reduce the efficiency of the battery during the charging process or when it is being put to its intended use.

If the battery spends too much time in the charger, it will become overcharged. An overcharged battery can overheat which leads to premature battery failure. There are advanced chargers available that will prevent both under- and overcharging as well as conditioning the battery plates for prolonged battery life. Eventually, however, chargers still degrade the battery plates, deplete battery acid levels, and ruin the battery's abilities and integrity.

Renaissance chargers, which use radiant charging technologies can restore the battery to its original condition and in some cases may actually allow the battery to surpass its power output from its first day of use. A rechargeable battery is not expected to live and be useful forever. With traditional charging, a battery will live an average of 24-48 months. "According to a recent study, only 30% of all batteries actually reach the 48 month point." ( Real Green Technology)

The numbers for battery consumption in the US alone are staggering: - 3 Billion dry cell batteries every year - 99 million wet cell, lead acid batteries (automotive) - 180,000 tons of batteries thrown out each year - 166,000 tons of that total are single use batteries, the rest are rechargeable (Real Green Technology)

If the Renaissance battery charging technology can keep one household from having to buy one new battery, from every neighborhood in every city and state across the country, it would greatly reduce the amount of single use and rechargeable batteries that are dumped into the landfills each year. No matter how well it is made, every battery that is dumped will eventually leak its harmful materials into the environment, leading to contamination and potential risks to human, animal, and plant life.
