Exploring Batman's Arkham Asylum Game

The Batman franchise has been depicted in every medium imaginable, and it has prospered in almost every one of them except for one. Batman has yet to truly flourish in the realm of video games. Almost every video game based on the Batman comic books or movies has fallen flat because many feel that the video games that have been made just do not have good enough game play to match the story.

The primary criticism of Batman games is that the stories are always good, but the game play is rarely ever fun. However, there is a new Batman game coming out soon that has many thinking that the next digital adventure of the caped crusader will be worth it. It is called Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Batman: Arkham Asylum takes place in, as the name suggests, Arkham Asylum after Batman has dropped the Joker off from his latest arrest. However, the arrest is all part of the Joker's latest plan. As he is taken into custody, Joker takes down the guards holding him and takes over the asylum, with Batman trapped inside with some of his worst enemies.

The game play is being compared early on to the most recent Resident Evil games, with an over the shoulder view for the caped crusader as he battles the deranged madmen that inhabit Arkham. Fans will get to utilize combos and gadgets that will assist the game play. But what is really exciting is the story. The story of the game is written by comic book fan favorite Paul Dini, who helped do the primary writing on the critically acclaimed Batman animated series. Speaking of the animated series, veteran Batman voice actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill return to voice Batman and the Joker, respectively.

The story is also to be heavily inspired by the graphic novel Batman: Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth by Grant Morrison. The story has, however, been altered to give it a more realistic feel. The designers of the game wanted to avoid being tied to the movies, so they instead opted to go for a look that is much closer to the comic book version. The game is set to feature a fully immersive Arkham Asylum for gamers to explore as Batman. The game also features some of the most popular characters from Batman, including Joker, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Bane, Killer Croc and others.
